Everton have been keen to sign Nicolas Jackson over recent months and he’s now set to return to Chelsea in the summer after his Bayern Munich loan as he’s unlikely to the 40 appearance clause.

During the winter window, Everton showed interest in Jackson as he battles for a spot in the Bayern side against Harry Kane.

The Senegal international is now set to return to Chelsea this summer when his loan deal with Bayern comes to an end, according to Football.London.

Everton News understands that Everton are keen to add to their striker options having failed to do so in the January market.

Jackson is a player known well by some at Everton, with Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gana Gueye both playing for the same national side.

Jackson’s contract holds a 40 appearance clause that would trigger a fee from Bayern, which is why his game time is limited.

Everton are keen to sign Jackson permanently as they require more firepower up front.

David Moyes was forced to settle with his two current options of Thierno Barry and Beto for the remainder of the campaign.

Jackson has only played 445 minutes in the Bundesliga for Bayern this season, but he remains open to all options this summer.

Although Everton could offer him regular starts in the Premier League, Chelsea have recently changed their manager, with Liam Rosenior able to offer Jackson a fresh start.

The irony is that Everton also hold an interest in Liam Delap, who Jackson would replace if he returned to Chelsea this summer.

Nicolas Jackson would be an upgrade for Everton

Alan Shearer blamed Thierno Barry’s missed opportunities for Everton’s recent loss against Bournemouth in the Premier League.

Wasting chances in front of goal has been a major issue for Everton this season, with neither of their two strikers really taking the opportunity awarded to them.

Moyes was open to signing more than one striker over the summer, but his options of Beto and Barry are now locked in until the upcoming summer window.

Player Appearances Minutes Goals Assists

Nicolas Jackson (Bayern/Chelsea) 22 641 5 1

Thierno Barry (Everton) 26 1,502 5 0

Beto (Everton) 26 887 3 0

Jackson has played even fewer minutes than Beto this season, yet the Senegal international is able to boast the same return as Barry.

Albeit playing for Bayern, the striker also proved his worth at the Africa Cup of Nations, with two goals and an assist.

Everton will now need to navigate the possibility of Rosenior handing Jackson another opportunity at Stamford Bridge.
