Opinion: The blueprint David Moyes may look to use vs Man United, but Everton fans may not like …

Everton take on Manchester United in their next Premier League game – and West Ham United may have already shown David Moyes the way to go.

Everton are looking to get back on track after the poor defeat against Bournemouth last week.

Let’s hear your score predictions for Everton’s game with Manchester United!

The Toffees threw away a lead to fall again at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, meaning Everton missed the chance to go sixth.

Everton are in the middle of a decent rest period as a result of no longer being in the FA Cup, and should be feeling nice and refreshed for the visit of United on Monday.

But Everton fans hoping that the team will play on the front foot may end up disappointed.

Why Everton might adopt a low block vs Man United

United have been resurgent under Michael Carrick.

The Red Devils look a completely different outfit since he replaced Ruben Amorim and at the moment, they are one of the form teams in the Premier League.

So Everton need to be wary.

United will also be looking for revenge after Everton’s 1-0 win in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford.

So far, West Ham are the only side who have taken points off Carrick’s United – and they did so by adopting a low block.

As per the Manchester Evening News, it was the first time that Carrick was unable to execute his tactical plan, with Nuno Espirito Santo outwitting him.

They had 65% possession, but were largely frustrated by the Hammers’ shape.

United would have actually lost the game had it not been for an equaliser deep into injury-time by Benjamin Sesko. In the end, they came away with a point.

So given West Ham’s game plan was effective, it means we could well see Everton follow a similar blueprint.

Everton fans could be left frustrated

If Moyes does decide to try and set Everton up with a low block, then it won’t go down well with every Everton fan.

Obviously at the moment, the Toffees are on a concerning run at the Hill Dickinson Stadium and have not won any of the last seven games.

Many fans have urged Everton to be bolder and dictate proceedings. We have seen that, but only really in phases of games.

But given how well West Ham played against United last week, it could be that Moyes wants to try a similar tactical plan – and that could leave Evertonians who want to see a bit of a bolder style frustrated.
