Vitor Pereira explains why he really wanted to work with Evangelos Marinakis again at…

New Nottingham Forest head coach Vitor Pereira has been quizzed on his relationship with Evangelos Marinakis after being tasked with replacing Sean Dyche at the City Ground.

Dyche was sacked after last week’s 0-0 draw with Wolves, with Marinakis seeking out senior players for their opinion on what the head coach was doing behind the scenes.

Vitor Pereira has sent the fans a message but what advice would YOU give the new Nottingham Forest boss?

Let us know in the comments below…

Pereira has been tasked with keeping Forest in the Premier League, and although he has an 18-month deal on Trentside, it wouldn’t be overly surprising to see him depart in the summer.

The 57-year-old kept Wolves in the Premier League last season, and now he’s been tasked with the same remit for the final 12 fixtures of the 2025/26 campaign at Forest.

Vitor Pereira shares why he wanted to work with Evangelos Marinakis

This isn’t Marinakis’ first rodeo when it comes to hiring Pereira, with the Forest owner appointing him as the Olympiacos manager in 2015.

The Portuguese boss oversaw 27 games in Greece, winning 18 and drawing six, finishing his time at the club with a win ratio of 66.7%.

Now, Pereira has been keen to link up with Marinakis once again at Forest and upon his arrival, he’s been asked about his relationship with the Reds’ owner.

He said in his press conference: “He is ambitious. He wants to win. Emotional…I know him very well.

“I remember the energy and the fire we created. In Greece, there is a fire inside – they like to see the energy. He asked me to be myself. He liked the way that when we worked together, we won the league and the cup.

“It was in the middle of the season, and we created a good relationship. He trusts my work, and I trust his personality. I think we need passion too.”

Pereira must bring togetherness at Forest

This season has been a disaster from the off for Forest, and it really shouldn’t have been like this.

Ange Postecoglou didn’t win a single game at the club, and appointing Sean Dyche with 90 points still to play for was a shocking decision to say the least.

Now, the baton is handed to Pereira in one final roll of the dice to try and salvage the season both in the Premier League and the Europa League.

Fans sniping at each other and the players need to cease now, with everyone singing from the same hymn sheet, absolutely vital for the run-in.

Pereira built up an excellent rapport with the fans at Wolves and now he must do the same again to protect Marinakis’ investment and keep his club in the Premier League.
