Several of West Ham’s brightest talents have excelled in recent years after loan spells away from the club. Indeed Freddie Potts often referred to his season at Portsmouth as being ‘the making of him’ as a Premier League player.
When loans haven’t worked for the player – as was the case for Lewis Orford who was largely ignored by Stevenage FC and made just one appearance- West Ham have acted to pull their young talented players out of situations where they are continually overlooked.
Kaelan Casey, similarly, was pulled out of a Swansea loan spell when it was clear he wasn’t going to get time on the pitch, and has now made t appearances for Leyton Orient.
On loan Hammer George Earthy, however, is struggling. The young Hammers attacking midfielder has returned to the site of his successful spell last season – Bristol City.
However with a different Manager in place this term, Earthy is struggling to get game time: The West Ham loanee was left out of City’s match day squad on Tuesday evening According to the bristolpost.co.uk:

“George Earthy “has to be a little bit patient,” [new manager] Gerhard Struber has admitted whilst explaining his decision not to select the attacking midfielder as part of his Bristol City squad to face Wrexham.”
Earthy had been on the bench for Bristol’s two previous games and has not played since January. A challenging time for one of West Ham’s bright up and coming youngsters who only left east London to try and get game time after struggling back from summer injury.
