The former Rangers and Sunderland player is now a regular at Manchester United.
A Manchester United star claims the pressure dial at Sunderland is way down compared to Old Trafford - but Rangers handed him an ideal taster of what to expect.
The Red Devils have fallen on difficult times since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson as manager but still remain one of football’s biggest attractions, and they’re pushing for Champions League football in the Premier League, under interim boss Michael Carrick. One star in their ranks is Amad Diallo, who first joined Man Utd in 2021 from Serie A side Atalanta, and he headed to Rangers for building senior experience.
It was a testing loan for the winger who featured 13 times for the Ibrox club in 2022. His next temporary stint was to Sunderland where he made himself a Black Cats favourite before returning to Manchester, and he has been asked on Inside Carrington how the pressure at his loan clubs stacks up to his parent side.

Amad Diallo on pressure differences between Manchester United, Rangers and Sunderland
Diallo says there’s less pressure playing for Sunderland as opposed to Man Utd but what he experienced at Rangers is comparable with the demands he now faces in red. He said: “Very different, very different. United is special, I think. United, I think, this club is a winning team. They want to win every game.
“They want to win titles. I think the pressure is very different. Playing for Sunderland, you have less pressure, than playing for United. Even when you play for Rangers, you can feel that pressure when you play for Manchester United. Yeah, the pressure is very high, so you have to deal it and keep going. You have to win every game.
“I was so emotional playing for a big club like United. I remember my first day I was parking in this parking area and then I saw Juan Mata. He was doing the test for Covid in that time.
How did Amad Diallo get on at Rangers?
“So I was like, oh, this is Juan Mata. I was like, I can't believe it. But yeah, also I went to the dressing room and I see players like Paul Pogba, big players, Eric Bailly. I was like, I can't believe it. I'm playing for United now. So I have to give everything. I have to do my best for the club because now I play for a big club.”
Rangers captain James Tavernier said last year of Diallo’s Rangers loan ahead of a clash between the clubs in the Europa League: "I think it [his time in Scotland] would have taught him something. He's really progressed since then. You obviously get tested in an Old Firm or you can go away to places where they've only got a few fans so it's a different learning curve.
"He showed really good signs at Rangers then he was in and out of the team. He had a really bright spell at Sunderland on loan and he's continued that at Man United. He's really showcasing his talent at the minute so he'll be a danger man we'll have to be aware of tomorrow because he's really on form. I'm looking forward to playing against him."
