Everton have been linked with Marcos Senesi, but the defender appears keen on a move to Barcelona.
It was claimed recently that Everton were one of several clubs interested in Senesi, who stands to leave Bournemouth on a free transfer this summer.
The Argentine’s contract is expiring, meaning there is a bargain to be had for someone.

Senesi has been a consistent performer over the years for Bournemouth and that means he is definitely not short of suitors heading into the summer.
With Michael Keane potentially leaving, Senesi would be a rather ideal replacement.
But a new report seems to suggest the Toffees aren’t currently anywhere close to signing the player this summer, with Barcelona actually firmly in the lead.

TEAMtalk have reported that Senesi has now had his ‘head turned’ by Barcelona’s interest.

Barcelona’s interest in Senesi was reported recently, and seemingly since then they have ramped up their efforts to land him.
The news will come as a blow to a number of English clubs. Indeed, TEAMtalk say Tottenham, Chelsea, Everton, Aston Villa, Newcastle, and Sunderland have all held talks with the player’s camp.
Those talks were exploratory though, and it’s Barcelona who are the most serious right now.
It is stated that Barca recently accelerated their own negotiations recently, with a proposal being prepared that is already proving ‘the most intriguing’ to Senesi’s representatives.
TEAMtalk also share word from a source close to the situation, which said: “There is a lot of interest in Marcos, but when Barcelona are interested, that is tough to ignore.
“He has not ruled out anything as yet, but fair to say Barca is a huge lure.”
Uphill battle for Everton to land Senesi
So it appears that Senesi is keen on a move to Barca this summer, or at least that’s what ‘head turned’ would suggest.
The Catalan giants being in the race was always going to be an issue for Everton.

As much appeal as there is in signing for Everton right now, with the new stadium being a major lure and the club being established in the Premier League – which many feel is the best league in the world – Barcelona are Barcelona.
They’re one of the biggest clubs on the planet, and Senesi may also be drawn to La Liga being a Spanish speaker.
Maybe things will change in the coming months. But even if Senesi didn’t fancy Barcelona, there would still be a lot of other clubs battling Everton.
