Report: Leeds surge into race for "amazing" young star who scouts have compared to Osimhen

Leeds United are now battling to sign an impressive 15-goal striker, who scouts have compared to Galatasaray goalscorer Victor Osimhen.

Leeds join race to sign 15-goal star

Considering just how concerned those at Elland Road were about Leeds' ability to score goals at the start of the season, Daniel Farke's side have certainly done well.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is proving to be a revelation and one of the signings of the season after arriving as a free agent in the summer. Meanwhile, Brenden Aaronson has finally found form in a Leeds shirt and Lukas Nmecha is also quietly enjoying an impressive debut campaign.

Add on the fact that Farke's side currently sit six points clear of the dropzone with 12 games remaining and it's clear that life can't get much better at Elland Road.

But that's not to say the 49ers won't at least try. The summer transfer window, should Leeds achieve survival, will be one to watch. The Whites have already shown their hand in the market more than once in the last year, but now they could go all in.

Names like Hayden Hackney have emerged as reported targets ahead of the summer transfer window. The Middlesbrough man has played a pivotal part in Boro's push for promotion. He, perhaps more than several other Championship stars, is ready for the Premier League.

Meanwhile, the 49ers have also reportedly set their sights on an attacking reinforcement. According to Sports Boom, Leeds have joined the race to sign Promise David after scouts compared the Union Saint-Gilloise striker to Victor Osimhen.

"Amazing" David would be an excellent addition

It's no secret that Leeds were after a striker in January, before Crystal Palace jumped ahead of them in the race to sign Jorgen Strand Larsen, and they could return to the market in the summer.

On that front, David wouldn't exactly be a bad alternative to Strand Larsen, either. The 24-year-old isn't Premier League proven, but comparisons with Osimhen should be all that Leeds need to hear, before taking a look at his impressive record in front of goal.

Since earning praise from talent scout Jacek Kulig, who dubbed him "brilliant", David has reached a new level - scoring 15 goals in all competitions so far this season.

With every passing week, the forward is looking more and more like someone that Leeds should go all out to sign at a reported €20m (£17m) this summer.
