Nottingham Forest team news ahead of the Premier League clash against Liverpool.

Nottingham Forest are hopeful of having a key defender back for their clash against Liverpool.

The Reds make the trip to the City Ground in the Premier League on Sunday. Arne Slot has failed to beat Forest on three occasions as Liverpool head coach and suffered a sobering 3-0 loss at Anfield earlier in the season.

A win for the Reds will see them move level on points with Manchester United during the race for Champions League qualification. Forest, on the other hand, are in a relegation battle and sit three points above the drop zone.

Newly-appointed boss Vitor Pereria, the fourth man to sit in the City Ground hot seat this campaign, will be desperate to get Murillo back for the clash. The centre-back has missed the past two games.

Forest face Fenerbahce in the Europa League knockout play-off first leg in Istanbul on Thursday night and the centre-back has travelled. Pereira said at his pre-match press conference: “He is here training with us. That means he is in contention to play tomorrow.”

However, Forest look set to be without goalkeeper Matz Sels, who has a groin injury. Sels has been removed from the East Midlands outfit’s UEFA squad for the upcoming games against Fenerbahce, with Stefan Ortega drafted in. With Forest facing Liverpool in between those games, it suggests Sels will be absent.

“I don’t think it is a long-term injury,” said Pereira. “I spoke with him yesterday and he is recovering well. We will see.”
