Report: Everton scouts surge into race against Wolves to track £17m striker from European club

Everton have now sent scouts to watch a new striker target, who they're looking to sign ahead of Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer.

Everton scouts spotted watching £17m striker

Although Thierno Barry deserves plenty of credit for how he's found his form in an Everton shirt as of late, the Toffees are still seeking attacking reinforcements.

David Moyes welcomed young Chelsea winger Tyrique George on loan in the dying hours of the January transfer window and that's enough to suggest that he wasn't completely satisfied with his frontline.

Now, when George's loan spell comes to an end, Everton are likely to be back on the hunt for another forward to provide Barry with ample competition.

This is certainly an Everton side with plenty of potential, too. As things stand, they're still in contention for European qualification and remain just five points behind Merseyside rivals Liverpool.

It's an ideal way for the Toffees to kick off their first season at the Hill Dickinson Stadium but, as far as The Friedkin Group will be concerned, this must only be the start.

They're already setting their sights on further reinforcements for Moyes this summer, which could finally bridge the gap between the top six and Everton.

Sondre Auklend of FK Bodo:Glimt and Robin Le Normand of Atletico de Madrid

Targets such as Robin Le Normand highlight the new ambition in Merseyside. The Atletico Madrid man would be an instant upgrade on Michael Keane and could yet be joined by Liam Delap at the Hill Dickinson next season.

The Chelsea striker has struggled to make an impact at Stamford Bridge, sparking rumours that he could yet complete a swift summer exit.

However, he's not the only forward on the Toffees' shortlist. According to Sports Boom, Everton scouts have been spotted tracking Promise David, with Friedkin jumping into a race against Wolverhampton Wanderers to secure his signature.

15-goal David should partner Thierno Barry

Now is not the time to take Barry out of the side, though. He has more than made his mark to earn a place on Moyes' side. Instead, Everton should target David to partner Barry.

At just €20m (£17m), the Union Saint-Gilloise striker would be an undeniable bargain in the summer if Everton manage to fend off competition from the likes of Wolves, who have also had officials present in Belgium to watch the rising star.

They could land a George repeat.

The Midlands club are looking to replace Jorgen Strand Larsen after his mid-season switch to Crystal Palace, and have set their sights on David as a result.

Alas, given their current predicament at the bottom of the Premier League, Everton simply should not be losing out to Wolves in pursuit of the 24-year-old this summer.

Scouts have been full of praise for the USG striker, with those across the Premier League even reportedly claiming that his physical attributes make him the perfect fit for the Premier League.

And it's hard to argue with that verdict. David has scored 15 goals in all competitions this season and done so whilst clocking a rapid speed of 32.9 km/h.
