Leeds United and Everton had both been credited with transfer interest in a Premier League winger now targeted by West Ham.
West Ham are reportedly ‘in the race’ to make a summer transfer move to snap up soon-to-be free agent Harry Wilson once he departs Fulham.
The 28-year-old has been in fine form this season and has enjoyed a purple patch with seven goals and five assists since the end of November. Wilson has been at Craven Cottage since 2022 but is out of contract at the end of the current campaign.
The winger is yet to agree an extension with the club and that is not expected to come with a long list of Premier League suitors interested in recruiting the Welshman. Wilson had never fully nailed down a role in the starting XI until this season and Fulham face uncertainty next term with manager Marco Silva also out of contract at the Cottage.
Leeds United were known to have made bids for Wilson last summer and were also linked with the winger in January. Meanwhile, Everton are also said to have interest with the player a cheaper option than coughing up the £50 million wanted by Manchester City to send Jack Grealish to Merseyside permanently.
West Ham in transfer race for Fulham star Harry Wilson
Transfer specialist Pete O’Rourke told Football Insider: “I think probably half the Premier League are looking at Harry Wilson.
“Everton made a cheeky enquiry in the January transfer window which was quickly rebuffed by Fulham, but I’m sure they’ll be back at the table looking at him, and I’m sure there’ll be clubs from abroad looking at Wilson (too). He’s just been in red-hot form for Fulham in the last couple of months. It’s a wide-open race for Wilson right now.”
Football Insider, has relayed by Hammers News, believe that West Ham are also in the race. However, for any Hammers enquiry to be successful, the club will have to maintain their Premier League status.
Silva has lavished praise on Wilson during his purple patch this season. Following the 2-1 win over Chelsea, in which Wilson struck the winner, Silva said: “He’s been incredible. Right now everything he touches becomes something magic, something that will have an impact. You just have to try to take the best from him.
“It’s the best moment of his career definitely. He’s enjoying and he’s worked very hard. His numbers are top, incredible. Very humble, a hard worker always.”
