Eddie Howe is not resting on his laurels after Newcastle United cruised to their biggest Champions League victory.
Eddie Howe believes “the tie is not over” despite Newcastle United smashing Qarabag 6-1 in the Champions League.
A first-half onslaught saw the Magpies in cruise control at the break, with Anthony Gordon bagging four and Malick Thiaw scoring a header. Qarabag pulled one bag on 54 minutes before Jacob Murphy sealed the rout from distance late on.
The 2,000-strong away end will be celebrating long into the night as they prepare for the second half of their 5,000-mile-round trip. As far as the second leg of the fixture is concerned, supporters could be forgiven for already dreaming about the last 16.

‘Tie not over’ - Eddie Howe

“I just think we've got to be professional in every moment. We know our football can change. We've just seen that we've won three games in the blink of an eye and the feeling's very different. We respect every opponent and we have to be very good in the next game.”

“The attitude of the players to regain the ball high was brilliant. A lot of good counter-attacks from that and also some really good passages of incisive, progressive football, which is the team that we want to be. So I thought we were really good and a tribute to our players, really.”
