Report points finger at medical team over West Ham forward’s injury

A big component of West Ham’s fledgling Premier League recovery in 2026 has been their attack-minded forward play, with Taty and Pablo spearheading the Irons’ high energy, high press transformation as Nuno went from being ‘defensively minded’ to a coach most definitely on the front foot.

Regardless of Pablo’s modest goals / assist output, his impact as one who simply never stops running has been transformational and his injury when it came so soon after the Hammers learned how best to deploy him was a bit of a kick in the guts for Nuno and for supporters.

‘Today’s report by fourfourtwo.com makes a pretty concerning claim about the forward’s injury:(“West Ham United dealt new £22m relegation blow as questions asked of staff: report”), suggesting that Pablo’s injury wasn’t completely out of the blue – and hints that the medical team could have done better.

“While yet to find the back of the net, the 22-year-old had worked his way into the team and looked set to supercharge the Hammers’ attack towards the back end of the season.

Instead, he will miss around six weeks with a calf strain, apparently exacerbating a pre-existing injury when they faced Burnley on 7 February, leaving questions to be asked of the club’s medical staff. The injury rules him out of crucial Premier League fixtures and an FA Cup round of 16 tie against Brentford.”
