Besides lack of game time, decision Everton made in 2025 must be upsetting Charly Alcaraz too…

Charly Alcaraz is struggling for action at Everton.

David Moyes has only given the Argentine 11 minutes of football across the last four Premier League outings, all of which came in the 1-1 draw against Brighton.

It must be a frustrating time for Charly Alcaraz – who is yet to score in 16 Premier League games so far this season – and his mood surely has not been helped by the absence of Jack Harrison at Finch Farm on a daily basis.

When a footballer is stuck on the sidelines, it is important they are surrounded by good people who can help to keep them focused.

In the case of Alcaraz – however – he is having to find his feet at Everton this season without Harrison, who he became very close to after moving to Merseyside from Flamengo.

Speaking to Everton for the Official Matchday Programme ahead of a clash against Manchester United in February 2025, the South American said: “Jack has helped me because he speaks Spanish very well, he tells me that he wants to practise with me.

“Really, he is a great lad, he is a great player so, to be honest I am very grateful to him more than anything else for helping me in this, which is the beginning of my time at Everton.”

However, Everton chose not to trigger their option to buy Harrison from Leeds last summer, meaning Alcaraz is without his close friend on a daily basis at Finch Farm as he battles to get back into the starting XI under Moyes.

Everton could offload another player Charly Alcaraz adores in Beto

The 23-year-old not only adores Harrison, but he named Beto as his best pal at Everton after the Englishman returned to Leeds.

Alcaraz said: “Beto. I always stay with Beto. I speak Spanish or Portuguese with him. Always play together. Last season it was Jack Harrison, but now it’s Beto. I always speak with him (Harrison). I miss him, he’s a good guy.”

However, Everton could sell Beto this summer as he also struggles for action under Moyes, with only eight of his 26 Premier League appearances this term coming as starts.

Everton even enquired about Wilson Isidor of Sunderland in January, suggesting The Friedkin Group are already searching for a replacement for the Guinea-Bissau international.

Alcaraz is young and has time on his side at the age of just 23, but with a contract that will only have 12 months remaining on it at the end of the season, the Everton No.24 needs to impress Moyes sooner rather than later.
