Renée Slegers was pleased with the outcome of our UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-final play-offs, particularly after a difficult second leg against OH Leuven.
It wasn’t all plain sailing as we went 1-0 up only to suffer an equalising goal, but an improved second half performance saw us win the tie 7-1 on aggregate.
“That’s the most important thing,” our head coach said. “I think we entered this game with a 4-0 lead, we win today with 3-1 so overall 7-1 win over two legs so, we’re happy with that.
“Today wasn’t easy with the circumstances, but we played in the circumstances, we did it and we won, that was the most important thing and now we go and go through to the quarter-finals.”

Mariona: “Whatever the weather!"](https://www.arsenal.com/news/mariona-whatever-weather?utm_source=arsenaldotcom&utm_medium=embedded-article&utm_campaign=news)
It was a wet and windy night at Meadow Park with supporters have to brave bleak weather conditions in Borehamwood, so Renée and the coaching staff were delighted with the attendance.
“Yes, unbelievable because I think they have the same spot as we had basically, and the rain going straight into your face and the wind, and the football that wasn’t always the prettiest because the circumstances were different but hopefully they saw fight on the pitch,” she said. “So, thanks again because they were loud and thanks for getting us through it.”
Next up, we take on Chelsea in the two-legged quarter-finals, starting with the home match at Emirates Stadium on March 24 or 25, with full fixture details to be confirmed in due course.
“Yes, we look forward to it,” Renée said. “We’re really happy that we now secured a spot in the quarter-final. For us, it’s Bristol City on Sunday, then an international break, then the next block will start.”
