Arne Slot calls up 'imperious' Liverpool talent to first-team training before Nottingham Forest

Josh Davidson and Terence Miles have trained with the Liverpool first-team ahead of this weekend’s Premier League meeting with Nottingham Forest.

The Reds head into the fixture knowing a win would, at least until Monday night, see them go level on points with Manchester United.

The battle for a Champions League place is tight, and Liverpool, who have won their last two matches in all competitions, can’t afford to slip up against a relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest.

However, as has been the case for much of the season, Arne Slot has very little squad depth going into the fixture and has now turned to his Academy to help fill the void.

Josh Davidson and Terence Miles

Jeremie Frimpong missed training on Wednesday and is not expected to feature on Sunday afternoon.

Joe Gomez was spotted on the grass, but players like Conor Bradley, Alexander Isak and Giovanni Leoni missed out.

Now, with depth lacking, Slot has decided to call up two more Academy youngsters to training.

Jack Lusby confirmed: “Calvin Ramsay (22), Josh Davidson (20) and Terence Miles (21) moved over from U21s to first team in LFC session today.”

Ramsay has been included in the squad already this season due to right-back issues, but he may now face competition from Miles and Davidson.

Terence Miles is an imperious defender

Now 21, Miles has made over 100 appearances for the Reds’ U18 and U21 sides thus far.

A natural right-back, he has been used 33 times as a full-back, but is also a capable central defender.

He has featured on 46 occasions in the middle of the back four, scoring four and assisting three.

Miles has been called ‘imperious’ during his spell in the Academy, but is yet to make a first-team appearance.

Davidson is also a natural full-back, who has enjoyed stints as a defensive midfielder while playing in Liverpool’s youth system.
