Everton eyeing striker wanted by Barcelona ahead of summer window - journalist

Everton were exploring the market for a new centre-forward in January.

It was reported that David Moyes was ‘fixated’ on signing a striker, but the priority shifted to a winger after Jack Grealish’s season-ending injury.

Clearly, Everton are likely to revisit their initial plans in the summer, as Thierno Barry and Beto are still struggling to deliver on a consistent basis.

Barry and Beto have scored just eight Premier League goals between them this season, so if the Toffees are to become a European-level side, they’ll need a more prolific frontman.

With that said, a fresh rumour is emerging linking them to Etta Eyong.

Everton interested in Levante striker Etta Eyong

According to Ben Jacobs, Everton are now showing an interest in Levante striker Etta Eyong ahead of the summer window.

Eyong was linked to the Hill Dickinson Stadium last year, but the initial interest never progressed into anything concrete.

Clearly, Toffees chiefs have maintained tabs on the 22-year-old, who has netted six goals for the La Liga outfit this term.

Jacobs notes that Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Arsenal and Fulham are all circling the young frontman.

So, quite clearly, the Toffees will struggle to land his signature ahead of some of the aforementioned European powerhouses.

Levante want to sell Etta Eyong

Jacobs has also reported that Levante are keen to sanction the sale of Eyong and are pushing to sell him to CSKA Moscow.

The Russian outfit have offered in excess of £26m, but the seven-cap Cameroon international has no desire to join them.

Let us know why in the comments! 🤔

Levante actually benched Eyong in their clash with Villarreal last night, so the board are putting pressure on him to depart.

Levante’s record sale was Jefferson Lerma to Bournemouth for around £25m, so they evidently want to eclipse that with Eyong.
