Slot commented on the Dutchman in his presser, ruling him out of the weekend’s tie.

He said: “Jeremie will not be involved this weekend, we hope he will be involved next week if things go as planned.”

Slot was then asked for updates on Wataru Endo and Alexander Isak, confirming the latter has been back running for the first time this week: “No, no, Wataru will be out for a long time, we don’t know exactly how long.

“And Alex, he’s been out on the pitch now, not with his football shoes but with his running shoes for the first time this week. That will still take a while before he’s ready to play for us again.”

With Frimpong out, Slot was then asked if Joe Gomez is ready to start, to which he responded: “Yeah, I think he is.”

Last term, meanwhile, Liverpool lost 1-0 at Anfield and were held to a 1-1 draw in the return fixture at the City Ground.
