WOLVES FANS TALK: WOLVES 2 ARSENAL 2

REBECCA FERNANDEZ

Again, a match of two halves.

The first half was not great at all, and when the first goal went in, I thought the way we were playing it could have turned into a total battering.

Tolu came on for the injured Angel Gomes and the play started to improve a little, but our passing accuracy was dreadful again. The crosses and the play down the wing were very poor too. It was also worrying how Mosquera was being rattled, and I thought he might fall into the trap, but luckily he did not.

After the break, we actually turned up and started to move the ball around well, to the point we had more possession than Arsenal.

After thinking Hugo Bueno was having a bad game, his goal was a blinder and it came on the counter.

Why can we not put in a full shift? If we had, things might have been different. That said, I still feel the team needs to be better tactically. I also have to question why Pedro Lima is not being played, because this season should now be about finding some hidden gem or revelation for the Championship. So giving Pedro a try should be an option.

He tried Edozie, and that did not turn out too badly.

At the end of the match, it was bad sportsmanship and, in my eyes, a red card. A terrible scene.

MOM: Difficult, but it is between Tolu and Mané

Performance rating: 6.5 (because of the second half)

Best moment: I have two: the supporters singing at the end of the match, and young Edozie scoring.

Well done, lads!

What a night at Molineux, pure chaos, pure fight, pure Wolves.

Rock bottom? Not last tonight. We showed heart, belief and a bit of Old Gold madness to claw back from 2-0 down and rock Arsenals title charge.

They thought they had it wrapped up, step forward Hugo Bueno an absolute beauty 💥

Then came the moment. A high ball, panic and young Tom Edozie what a moment for him smashed it goalwards. Bedlam.

From dead & buried to deserved point

Arsenal came for 3 points to stretch their lead, they left hanging on got what they deserved for wasting time and lost their heads, they just couldn’t take it!

This is what this club is about. Fight. Spirit. Molineux under the lights. We have had so little joy this season so yes we are gonna enjoy that 🤩

Top against bottom. Everyone apart from die hard Wolves fans had three points in the bag for Arsenal before a ball was kicked. Could we prove them wrong?

Rob made four changes from the team against Grimsby. We started a bit shaky and after just five minutes Arsenal had scored. I think everyone expected a cricket score.

But gradually we grew into the game. On the half hour mark, Angel had to come off and Tolu came on. It turned out to be a good substitution, offering a bit more bite up front.

In the second half we were still plugging away until, on the hour, they scored again. The linesman flagged offside, but VAR allowed the goal as Hugo Bueno clearly played him on.

Was that it? No. Despite some terrible refereeing decisions, we got a break for Hugo to make amends and he scored a worldie.

Could we get anything from this? Arsenal used every time-wasting tactic going, but in the 94th minute our U21s player Edozie picked up the ball after a mistake by Raya, hit a lovely volley, and Calafiori helped it in. We were level and the crowd went wild. What a debut for him.

We did it. We dented the title hopes of the league leaders. A night to remember at Molineux, and there have not been many this season.

Before we start this reaction, it was nice to see Rob bringing fresh players into the squad, especially with such a tough run of games.

The first half was not what we wanted at all. Our defence got caught out and we allowed Arsenal to score early. A huge mistake to make. We did not see much of the ball either, as they kept possession for long spells. We struggled with their high press and spent too much time pinned in our own half. We did manage a shot near the end of the half, but overall it was a poor display and we did not look like a team playing as a unit.

Then the second half came and you have to ask, what did Rob say to them? We looked a different side and started causing Arsenal real problems. Once again, VAR had its say. We thought their goal had been ruled out, but it stood, and suddenly we were back to square one and further behind.

But we did not sit back. We kept competing and took the game to them. Getting a goal back changed everything, and I was delighted for Hugo Bueno. His first Premier League goal was fully deserved, and it put Arsenal under pressure.

The one thing you hate to see is the time-wasting. It felt like Arsenal were trying to cling on to their lead.

And then the equaliser in injury time. What can you say? Tom Edozie, you beauty. Another Premier League debutant tonight, scoring his first goal for the first team. We completed the comeback and grabbed an unlikely point.

Rob must be proud of that result. We showed real character and spirit and did not give up. The fans kept cheering the team on, and we have to carry on whatever happens and keep the faith.

Wolves 2 Arsenal 2 felt like more than a point.

Before kick-off, most people had this down as routine for the league leaders. Arsenal turned up looking sharp, and when they went ahead it had that horrible feeling of, here we go. They kept the ball, pressed high, and tried to pin us back.

But Wolves did not fold. That is the part that matters.

We grew into it. We started to bite in the tackles. We stopped admiring them and started asking questions. Even when decisions went against us and we found ourselves chasing the game, we stayed in it. We played with more belief, more fight, and a lot more urgency.

Then came the late equaliser, and honestly it felt like a winner. Molineux went off. You could see it on Arsenal too. They were rattled.

That is what I want to take from this night, the attitude. We went toe to toe with one of the best sides in the league and did not back down.

Now we have to use it. No good being heroes for one night and quiet the next. Take this confidence into the Palace game. Start fast, stay brave on the ball, and play like we did in that second half. If we match that energy and keep the crowd involved, we have a real chance for some joy.

One point on paper. Massive point in reality.
