Emerson Nwaneri making encouraging progress with Arsenal U18s

Arsenal U18s have lacked consistency this season, with the 4-1 defeat at home to Tottenham Hotspur this week another example of the problems that they have faced defensively.

There have, though, been some encouraging signs of late, with schoolboy Emerson Nwaneri starting to establish himself as a key figure at U18 level.

Ethan’s younger brother registered his first goal for the U18s in the aforementioned game against Tottenham and he will be eager to get as much playing time as possible at this level before the end of the campaign.

However, Nwaneri’s involvement for Arsenal will be disrupted somewhat by the fact that he will be unavailable for some games with the U18s as he has received a callup to the England U16 squad.

A neat passer and a fine dribbler, Nwaneri mainly plays as an attacking midfielder but has also been used as a striker at times this season for various age groups.

Furthermore, earlier in his development he had experience of playing as a right-back.

Nwaneri is set to be part of Arsenal’s scholarship intake next season and he has already featured at U21 and U19 levels.
