AFC Bournemouth are preparing to welcome back a key player ahead of some important games.

AFC Bournemouth have received some encouragement on the fitness front as they prepare to face West Ham this weekend. The Cherries are locked in a battle for a European spot, currently in ninth place and just three points behind Brentford, who currently occupy seventh spot.

Eighth spot could yet become a European spot, so Bournemouth will know the importance of battling until the end, even if they do end up missing out on seventh place.

Andoni Iraola’s men have been tricky customers for most this season, but that only makes this weekend’s clash with West Ham more interesting, given the Iron’s form of late. The Hammers have picked up 10 points from the last 15 available to set up a relegation battle.

West Ham are now three points from safety, but they know they must continue with consistent form to stand a chance of catching Nottingham Forest, and they are now entering a difficult run of games.

Good luck with injuries will help, but West Ham have lost new striker Pablo Felipe for around six weeks, forcing Nuno Espirito Santo to find answers elsewhere. As for Bournemouth, they have been working without Marcus Tavernier since mid-January due to a hamstring injury.

But in a fresh boost, Tavernier is now back on the grass and training, as confirmed by the Cherries’ social media. Tavernier won’t be available this weekend, but he may well be available for the all-important clash with Brentford on March 3, a game that could go some way in deciding the race for European football.

Tavernier is a lock-in starter when he is fit, and prior to picking up the hamstring injury, he had started all-but one of Bournemouth’s Premier League games, coming off the bench in that other game.
