Nottingham Forest now battling billionaires to hijack Sunderland's "one man machine"

Nottingham Forest are now battling a billionaire club for the signature of a Premier League striker, with a summer spending spree on the cards.

Forest racing to sign "one man machine"

Remaining in the Premier League is likely to be Evangelos Marinakis' number priority, with Forest's top flight status in doubt, given that they are just three points above the relegation zone, having gone through four permanent managers this season.

However, there is also the matter of qualifying for the last 16 of the Europa League, with Vitor Pereira set to take charge of the Tricky Trees for the first time when they travel to Fenerbahce this evening.

Pereira will be hoping Igor Jesus can once again turn it on in Europe once again, having scored six goals in six matches in the competition this season, four more than the Brazilian has managed in the Premier League.

With Jesus' domestic goalscoring record less impressive, Pereira's side have placed another striker on the shortlist ahead of the summer transfer window.

That is according to a report from Sports Boom, which states Nottingham Forest are now battling the likes of Everton and Crystal Palace for the signature of Sunderland striker Wilson Isidor, who pockets £25k-a-week at the Stadium of Light.

Paris FC, backed by billionaire Bernard Arnault, are also in the race for the French centre-forward, who is disappointed by the amount of game time he has received for Sunderland this season, having often been limited to appearances as a substitute.

A summer spending spree is on the cards for the Tricky Trees, but Isidor may not be the best of signings, having struggled to get to grips with life in the Premier League...

Signing Isidor would be gamble for Forest

The 25-year-old has impressed at times since signing for Sunderland, receiving high praise from Sky Sports' Dougie Critchley after scoring against Leeds United in the Championship last season.

However, the Rennes-born striker has struggled since making the step-up to the Premier League, netting just four goals in 26 matches in all competitions, and last finding the back of the net in his side's 2-1 victory against Chelsea back in October.

Having been unable to offer much going forward, the Sunderland ace has lost his place in the starting XI, with Brian Brobbey getting the nod instead, which raises doubts about whether he would be a success at the City Ground.

Vitor Pereira's side are contending with interest in him.

Nottingham Forest already have plenty of options in attack, including Jesus, and Lorenzo Lucca, who has already bagged his first Premier League goal, so there is little reason to sign an underperforming striker in the summer.
