Man United could sell key player for almost £90 million

Manchester United are back in action on Monday when they visit Everton in the Premier League.

The Red Devils haven’t played since February 10, having been knocked out of the FA Cup in the third round at the hands of Brighton and Hove Albion, meaning they didn’t feature in last weekend’s fourth round programme.

Caretaker head coach Michael Carrick – who has been appointed until the end of the current campaign – guided his side to four consecutive wins at the start of his tenure, before a draw against West Ham United last time out.

Ahead of their visit to The Hill Dickinson Stadium, it has emerged that Man United are considering selling one of their most important players.

As per CaughtOffside, the Manchester giants are contemplating selling midfielder Bruno Fernandes this summer.

The report claims that the Red Devils are keen to bolster their ranks this summer, which could prove to be the perfect time to sell the Portugal international.

Fernandes, 31, joined Man United from Portuguese side Sporting CP in 2020 and has since established himself not only as a key player for the club, but also as one of the best players in the Premier League.

In total, Fernandes has scored 104 goals and provided 99 assists in 315 games for the Red Devils across all competitions, but his current contract is set to expire at the end of next season.

This, coupled with his age, have forced United to make a decision on the future of the midfielder, and the report suggests that the club could consider selling the Portugal international this summer.

It is claimed that United would demand a fee in the region of £87 million to allow the player to depart Old Trafford.

French champions Paris Saint-Germain, and German giants Bayern Munich are both said to be interested in Fernandes, who has also been heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia over the past 18 months.
