Aston Villa are reportedly looking to secure the signing of Harry Wilson on a free transfer when his contract with Fulham expires this summer.
The 28-year-old joined the Cottagers from Liverpool in 2021, and he has since gone on to score 34 goals and provide 43 assists in 176 appearances for the club.
He’s also bagged 17 goals in 67 caps for Wales, and so he has obtained plenty of experience and shown he can produce at the top level for club and country in recent years, and at 28, he still has many more years left to strive to stay at that level and even kick on further.

His current contract with Fulham comes to an end this summer, and according to The Telegraph, Villa are among the leading Premier League clubs in the pursuit of the Welsh international’s signature.
Given the figures noted above, this could prove to be a savvy move from the club to bolster Unai Emery’s attacking options if we can fend off the competition and land Wilson, and it would address a problematic position for the Villa boss.
Leon Bailey was recalled from his loan spell at Roma early last month to help fill that void after John McGinn’s injury, while it remains to be seen what the future holds for Jadon Sancho when his loan spell with us concludes at the end of the season.
Villa also signed Alysson last month, and while the expectation is that the talented Brazilian youngster will be a long-term solution for Emery, adding Wilson to our ranks would take the pressure off the 19-year-old and give us a proven option in the Premier League, should Bailey and Sancho clear space in the squad and on the wage bill.
With so much still to play for this season, Emery’s focus will no doubt be on our next game and not the summer transfer window, but for the club, it’s imperative that we plan for the future and act quickly to secure smart deals to further strengthen the squad moving forward.
