Martin Keown disagrees with Joleon Lescott on Nottingham Forest's star man vs Fenerbahce

Nottingham Forest thrashed Fenerbahce in Istanbul with Vitor Pereira securing a 3-0 win in his maiden game as the club’s new head coach.

The Reds won thanks to goals from Murillo, Igor Jesus and Morgan Gibbs-White, with Fenerbahce never really laying a glove on Forest in Istanbul.

Viva La Vitor!!!!

Pereira witnessed his team showcase some superb patterns of play and score three goals in a game that really should have seen the Reds score more.

Igor Jesus was our star man from the contest, but Martin Keown and Joleon Lescott argued the toss over whether it was Gibbs-White or Ibrahim Sangare who should get the Man of the Match accolade.

Keown and Lescott argue over Forest’s Man of the Match vs Fenerbahce

Both Sangare and Gibbs-White were excellent against Fenerbahce, and the two players combined to see Forest dominate the centre of the pitch in Istanbul.

Keown and Lescott clashed live on TNT Sports over Gibbs-White or Sangare getting the nod for the Forest star man, with the conversation going as follows after the match.

Lescott said: “I think Gibbs-White. His standard never dropped, even when they’ve been playing poorly and he was just so composed tonight. He’s never lost his focus for Forest.

Keown disagreed, saying: “I think Sangare overshadowed him a bit, I didn’t know Sangare’s feet were that good. I think he went away to the AFCON for a bit and they really missed him. I think he was a bit more important than Gibbs-White tonight.”

Every Forest player did their bit against Fenerbahce

It’s telling that pundits were arguing the toss over the Man of the Match accolade and pretty much every player would have been a good shout.

Gibbs-White and Sangare were both excellent in the middle of the pitch, however, and it’s not a surprise that the two pundits couldn’t pick between them.

Who was your Nottingham Forest Man of the Match vs Fenerbahce

The two were standout performers under Sean Dyche, in fairness, and they’ve carried on their excellent form as Pereira got his managerial reign underway at Forest.

Forest must now look ahead to the big game against Liverpool at the weekend and if the Reds show this level of confidence, there is no reason they can’t beat Arne Slot’s team for the second time this season.
