FA reveal major Newcastle United v Manchester City decision - six-figure Psr boost on offer

Newcastle United latest news: A date and time has been set for Newcastle United’s FA Cup Fifth Round clash against Manchester City next month.

A date and time has been set for Newcastle United’s FA Cup Fifth Round game against Manchester City next month.

The Magpies and Citizens will meet at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League this weekend in what will be their fourth meeting in all competitions this season. Newcastle were victorious in the reverse fixture in the league back in November and head to Manchester on Saturday with the aim of securing their first ever Premier League double over City.

However, since that win at St James’ Park in the league, they have twice suffered defeat against Pep Guardiola’s side who won both legs of their Carabao Cup semi-final meeting. City triumphed 2-0 at St James’ Park in January before a 3-1 win in the return leg booked them a place in next month’s final against Arsenal.

Their fifth meeting of the season will again take place on Tyneside, this time in the Fifth Round of the FA Cup. The Magpies have beaten Bournemouth and Aston Villa so far in this season’s FA Cup, whilst City were handed much more straightforward ties against League One Exeter City and League Two side Salford City.

When that game kicks off on Tyneside, it will be the fourth time in five meetings that the games between the sides have kicked-off at 8pm at night. The only exception to that was their league meeting in November which kicked off at the slightly earlier time of 5:30pm.

Three days prior to their FA Cup meeting next month, Newcastle United will take on Manchester United in the Premier League at St James’ Park. That game kicks-off at 8:15pm on Wednesday 4 March. City face Nottingham Forest on the same night, with that clash taking place at 7:30pm.

FA Cup prize money

A place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup awaits the winner of next month’s Fifth Round game, with whoever triumphs in that match likely to be installed as one of the favourites to lift the trophy at Wembley in May. Also on offer for the winners is £238,500 in prize money.

The Magpies have already earned £248,500 in prize money for their journey to the Fifth Round and whilst this money pales in comparison to the eye-watering amounts they can and will earn in the Champions League this season, it is still a key source of income for them to bank and put towards their financial results ahead of the new ‘squad-cost’ restrictions that will come into play ahead of next season.
