Leeds United and Sunderland looked at Galatasaray’s Gabriel Sara in the winter market.
That’s according to Fotospor from Turkey, who report on Leeds United and Sunderland’s failed attempts to sign the midfielder.
The Brazilian arrived in Europe when Norwich City signed him from São Paulo in July 2022 and left the Championship side for Galatasaray in August 2024.
Sara has been a regular for the Turkish champions, scoring eight goals and contributing 13 assists from 71 matches so far.
Leeds United and Sunderland approaches
His performances would have convinced the Whites and Régis Le Bris’ side to consider a move in January.

Leeds United and Sunderland have looked at the possibility of signing Sara. According to the report, the South American had held talks with both Daniel Farke’s side and the Black Cats.
It’s claimed both Sara and the Istanbul club didn’t find Leeds United and Sunderland’s proposals to be attractive. Therefore, the player didn’t consider moving either to Elland Road or the Stadium of Light in the last window.
Fotospor makes no mention of the details of the discussion or the Premier League duo’s offers.
Galatasaray set price for Sara
It’s unclear whether Leeds United and Sunderland will return for the former Norwich City man in the summer.
Fotospor say his decision to not leave the Süper Lig side has paid off as he managed four goals and an assist in last five matches. This includes a goal and an assist in Galatasaray’s 5-2 Champions League win over Juventus.
Sabah, another Turkish newspaper, looks at Sara’s recent performances and January approaches from the Premier League.
It’s claimed scouts from unnamed European clubs, who were in attendance, were amazed by Sara’s impressive performance against Juventus. There will be eyes on him in during the return leg in Italy on February 25th.
Sabah report Galatasaray value him over €30m. Leeds United or Sunderland have to pay close to this figure if they wish to sign Sara after this season.
