Newcastle United injury news ahead of the Premier League trip to Manchester City.
The Magpies head to the Etihad, a stadium they’ve never won at in the Premier League, on the back of three straight wins.
Eddie Howe’s side were heavily criticised following the 3-2 defeat to Brentford at St James’ Park but have responded emphatically with away wins at Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa and Qarabag.
Newcastle United injury updates on Sven Botman, Bruno Guimaraes & Tino Livramento
Howe welcomed back Joelinton for Wednesday’s 6-1 Champions League win against Qarabag but remains without his other Brazilian, Bruno Guimaraes, who has returned to his homeland to begin treatment on a hamstring injury.
Guimaraes isn’t expected back until April as he watched the win in Azerbaijan from an oxygen chamber.
Tino Livramento, Lewis Miley and Yoane Wissa are also ruled out Newcastle could have Sven Botman back available, with the Dutchman missing the last two matches with a back complaint.
Howe said: “No massive updates on Bruno, he's in Brazil and judging by a couple of the pictures I've seen, which was great to see, it's typical Bruno, seeing him watching the game in the chamber did make me laugh because it's just his passion and his love for the team shining through and we wish him well from afar.
“Tino's making good progress but still I don't think we're going to shave too much time off of the early March date set for him.
“Hopefully good news or better news on Sven Botman, he could be in and around this game and Lewis Miley is still a little bit to go I think.”
Newcastle United reveal Lewis Miley & Yoane Wissa return dates
Of the injured players, Wissa is close to returning. Howe told NewcastleWorld: “No, I don't think he will be [back v Man City] but I don't think he'll be too far off maybe the Qarabag game.
“It was in training, a nasty little knock but I think he'll be fine.”
On Miley, who hasn’t featured since the 1-1 draw away to Paris Saint-Germain on January 28, Howe added: “Again, without going into too much medical stuff which is beyond me, it was a dead leg so that was factually correct but I think it disturbed a bit of the muscle.
“Again, I don't think he's too far away, nothing more than a week, a couple of weeks maximum but I think we've been told that we've got to be careful with him.”
