Newcastle United team news and injury latest ahead of their clash with Manchester City this weekend.
Newcastle United have been handed a fresh injury blow ahead of their trip to face Manchester City in the Premier League this weekend.
Eddie Howe's side face a tight turnaround for their trip to Manchester on Saturday night, after they played against Qarabag in Azerbaijan on Wednesday evening. City enjoyed a rare midweek off following their FA Cup fourth round victory over Salford City, while they have already secured a place in the Champions League knockout rounds.
Pep Guardiola is set to issue an update on his team when he holds his latest press conference on Friday lunchtime, with Erling Haaland, Jeremy Doku and Savinho all in contention to return this weekend. Howe spoke to the media earlier in the day and confirmed a fresh injury blow for his side ahead of their clash with City tomorrow night.

Newcastle injury blow as £55m signing ruled out of Man City fixture
Newcastle United have confirmed they will be without Yoane Wissa for their trip to face Manchester City in the Premier League this weekend.
The £55 million summer signing from Brentford suffered a 'nasty knock' in training and will not be available on Saturday night, though he could be back to face Qarabag in their Champions League second-leg next week. Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Eddie Howe said: "No, I don't think he will be. He won't be too far off the Qarabag game. It (injury) was in training, a nasty knock. But I think it will be fine."
There was some positive injury news though, with defender Sven Botman expected to feature against City after he was rested for the last two matches. Howe added: "Hopefully, good news for Sven Botman, he could be involved in and around this game."
Newcastle will still be without both Bruno Guimaraes and Tino Livramento on Saturday night. "Tino’s making good progress, but I still don’t think we’re going to shave much time off the early March date that was set for him," Howe continued. "There’s no massive updates on Bruno, he’s in Brazil and judging by a couple of pictures I’ve seen, he’s enjoying himself! That’s typical Bruno – seeing him watching the game did make me laugh because his passion and love for the team was shining through. We wish him well from afar."
