Premier League side considering sacking boss amid shocking form and fan unrest

Crystal Palace are considering the future of head coach Oliver Glasner, talkSPORT understands.

The Austrian, who took over the Eagles reins in February 2024, has already announced he will leave the club in the summer - but he could go before then with fans beginning to turn against the boss.

Glasner was furious throughout as his side delivered a weak display on Thursday

Palace supporters taunted Glasner with 'sacked in the morning' chants during Thursday's 1-1 Conference League playoff draw with Zrinjski Mostar.

The stalemate means Palace have won only one of their last 15 matches in all competitions, a 1-0 win at rivals Brighton earlier this month.

Glasner had hinted that he would leave before his contract expires at the end of the season following Thursday's European clash.

"We're not in the best moment right now. I understand and take responsibility for everything, because I'm responsible for the whole team," Glasner said.

"I'm just not good enough to replace the players we sold. I'm just not good enough to integrate the new players in a way."

'I can't do it'

A dejected Glasner said that Palace's expectations were 'completely different' and continued: "It's my responsibility to get a turnaround... I can't do it.

"It's still one of the best Premier League seasons in the last 10 years. It just shows that the expectations are completely different.

"We're still two days until the next game and then it's my responsibility to get the turnaround, because I can't expect it from the players if I'm not that way.

"But right now, I just can't do it, because it's how I feel. It's a very challenging situation for all of us. I take responsibility for everything."

On Friday, however, Glasner said: "Let's see what the future brings, you never know."

Palace are one of the favourites to win the Conference League this season but struggled to claim a result in Molstar in midweek.

And Glasner admits that there is work to be done if Palace are to overcome Zrinjski Mostar in their two-legged affair.

"Yes (it feels like a missed opportunity),' Glasner said. "We were controlling the game, had the lead, and then we made two easy mistakes.

"We gave away the momentum and that is what we have to learn. At the end of the day it's half-time and we have to get it sorted at home."

'Short term memory'

Gabby Agbonlahor wasn't overly impressed with the Palace fans dishing out 'sacked in the morning' chants in the European clash on Thursday night.

Speaking with Alex Crook and Sam Matterface on talkSPORT on Friday, Agbonlahor has accused some sections of the fanbase has having a 'short memory' after Glasner guided the club to the FA Cup and Community Shield last year.

"The Crystal Palace fans that are in a stadium singing 'you're getting sacked in the morning' - Have they got a short memory?" Agbonlahor began.

"One FA Cup, one Community Shield, got a great chance still to get through to the knockout stages of the Conference League.

"Be careful what you wish for because yes, it's not been good enough, one win in 15, but look at his reaction when they scored the goal yesterday.

"He wasn't sat there just arm folded, he jumped up celebrating. I think they've got to be a bit more respectful to be honest."

Palace return to league action on Sunday when they host Premier League table footers Wolves on a weekend where there is no 12:30pm kick off before next week's return leg against Zrinjski Mostar at Selhurst Park.
