The ex-England star featured for only a minute in Michael Carrick’s first match as interim boss, which ended in a 2-0 win for Man Utd against Manchester City.
Following United’s stunning performance over Manchester City at Old Trafford, Mount was an unused substitute for the Red Devils’ 3-2 win over Arsenal.
Mount had appeared to turn a corner earlier in the 2025-26 campaign after enjoying regular United first-team minutes under former Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim.

Michael Carrick reveals where Matthijs de Ligt is at for Man Utd ahead of the visit to the Hill Dickinson Stadium
Matthijs de Ligt has been a long-term absentee for the Red Devils and has not played a single match for Man Utd in 2026 after his injury setback in 2025.
The 26-year-old Dutch defender has missed United’s last 14 fixtures across all competitions, with De Ligt being out of action due to a back problem.
United legend Carrick said that De Ligt is on his path to recovery, but he suggested Mount would be the first of the two to return for the Red Devils in the near future.
“Matthijs, he is working towards it; he is a little bit behind Mason,” he added.
De Ligt’s last match for the Red Devils came under Ruben Amorim last November, with United defeating Crystal Palace 2-1 in the Premier League tie at Selhurst Park.
