Michael Carrick hails David Moyes ahead of Man Utd’s first trip to Hill Dickinson Stadium

Michael Carrick has praised former Manchester United manager David Moyes ahead of the club’s first-ever trip to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Manchester United are looking to get back to winning ways after a 1-1 draw against West Ham last time out.

With the Red Devils sitting fourth in the Premier League, Michael Carrick is targeting a place in the Champions League after winning four games and drawing one since becoming head coach in January.

Prove me wrong: Michael Carrick has already shown enough to become permanent Man United manager.

United face an Everton side with hopes of qualifying for the Conference League, but they are hoping for their first home win since December.

That doesn’t bode well for Everton’s new ground – the Hill Dickinson Stadium – and United will try to take advantage of that on their first trip there.

With plenty of time to prepare for the trip to Everton, Carrick has reflected on how difficult it can be to play against Moyes’ team, even at a new stadium.

“A lot goes into the game,” Carrick told reporters at his press conference on Friday afternoon.

“David’s teams are hard to play against; he is such a good manager. The experience he has got, he knows what it takes to have success in this league. It is a new challenge for us and one we are looking forward to.

“We have had a lot of time to look forward to it. It is going to take a lot. I know it is a new stadium, but historically it has always been tough going to Everton.

“The atmosphere supporters create, it is always one of the toughest ones I have played in, so we are aware of that. We are trying to be our best.

“We have things to improve on, but we have a good base and foundation moving forward. A good spirit, and we will draw on pretty much all of that on Monday night.”

Michael Carrick urges Man Utd not to get carried away

It came as a setback last time out when United drew with West Ham, but Carrick wants his players to be balanced and not get carried away.

Carrick understands that it is difficult to win games in the Premier League, despite getting off to a flying start in the role.

Reflecting on the two points dropped against West Ham, Carrick added: “We have to be balanced and not get carried away winning games and we are not getting carried away if we don’t come away with three points.

“There is an understanding that games are tough to win in this league and it has proven not just for us. A lot of the performance in terms of control and how we went about the game, there was a lot of good things, it probably got open towards the end when we were chasing it a little bit.

“We looked dangerous and scoring late goals was a big positive. Important point for us, of course we wanted to win the game but it was certainly not all bad and a big negative. We are just as balanced going into the game as we are coming out of it.”
