Tottenham Hotspur have made an addition to their coaching staff by appointing a former Chelsea and West Ham man.
Ex Chelsea and West Ham coach Bruno Saltor has taken on a new position at London rivals Tottenham Hotspur to work alongside interim manager Igor Tudor until the end of the season.
Spurs parted ways with former Brentford manager Thomas Frank earlier this month and have followed Manchester United in moving to make a temporary appointment before assessing further in the summer.
Tottenham have turned to the Croatian, who has previously worked at Marseille, Lazio and Juventus. Tudor’s first match in charge of the side will be against Arsenal in the North London derby this weekend.
Saltor is set to be in the Spurs dugout for the first time too. The 45-year-old has regularly worked with Graham Potter in the past, which is how he came to be at Stamford Bridge and the London Stadium.
Saltor was appointed as temporary head coach at Chelsea following Potter’s departure in 2023, leading the side to a 0-0 draw with Liverpool before being replaced by Frank Lampard. Saltor stayed on to work under Lampard but then left when Mauricio Pochettino arrived at the club.
Tottenham appoint ex Chelsea and West Ham coach
The coach then joined Potter at West Ham but left the club when the ex Brighton boss did in September. A Tottenham statement confirmed: “Following the arrival of Igor Tudor as Head Coach until the end of the season, we can now confirm the appointment of three additional coaches to our Men’s First Team coaching staff.
“We welcome Bruno Saltor as Igor's Assistant Coach. Born in El Masnou, Spain, Bruno spent the early years of his playing career in his homeland before joining Brighton & Hove Albion in 2012, where he made 235 appearances across seven seasons. He transitioned into a coaching role with the Seagulls upon retiring in 2019, and has since also held coaching positions at Chelsea and West Ham United.”
In the same statement, Spurs also confirmed that several familiar faces would be leaving the coaching staff after the dismissal of Frank. The club added: “We can also confirm the departures of Justin Cochrane (First Team Assistant Coach), John Heitinga (First Team Assistant Coach) and Chris Haslam (Head of Performance & First Team Assistant Coach). We thank them all for their service and wish them well for the future.”
