Tottenham need to get back to winning ways in the Premier League under Igor Tudor.
Tottenham fans fear that the club could be facing the prospect of relegation from the Premier League this season. The Lilywhites are just five points above 18th-placed West Ham with only 12 matches remaining in the competition. With just two wins in their last 17 home league games, there is a growing sense of nervousness in and around N17, as the North Londoners prepare for the worst if push comes to shove.
Spurs have now appointed Igor Tudor on an interim basis until the end of the season. The Croat is known for fighting fires and guiding clubs out of difficult situations. He previously helped Udinese avoid relegation on two separate occasions and managed to come out on top both times. The Spurs faithful will therefore hope that Tudor can work the same magic at N17 after replacing Thomas Frank for the remainder of the campaign.
Tudor’s objective for the remainder of the season is straightforward: help the Lilywhites maintain their top-flight status by finishing in a respectable position in the table whilst playing attacking football. That is precisely why the Croatian tactician has been brought in, and he will expect the players to show the fight and hunger required to turn the club’s fortunes around in the Premier League.
Igor Tudor believes Tottenham will survive relegation this season
Not many Tottenham fans are confident that the club can avoid being dragged into a relegation battle during the business end of the season. The Lilywhites face a challenging run of fixtures under Igor Tudor, starting with the north London derby at home on Sunday. That is followed by matches against Fulham, Liverpool, Crystal Palace, and Nottingham Forest. Securing positive results will not be an easy task for Igor Tudor.
Tudor, however, remains confident that the North Londoners have enough firepower to maintain their top-flight status. He has urged the players to focus on each day as it comes, insisting that the results will follow. Speaking in his pre-match presser (via Football London), Tudor said,
“One hundred per cent! This is not important. Fighting for every position, relegation, first position, UEFA places, you achieve the position because of what you do during the week and on Sunday. It is a consequence of this. It brings you nothing if you think about relegation. All these goals are far away. I never give them importance. I never speak about results and what we want to achieve at the end of the season.”
The Spurs boss added,
“I don’t believe in this. I believe in today’s training. This is all I want the players to think about. The position is a consequence of this. Five points [above the relegation zone], 10, two, it is the same. We need to be focused. Let’s focus on this and see what we can attain. Looking down or up brings you nothing.”
Igor Tudor remains confident that he can steady the ship at N17 and believes the Lilywhites should focus on giving their best every day in training. The Croatian tactician insists that what the players do during the week directly influences what happens on matchday. Tudor wants his side to concentrate on the task at hand without worrying about Spurs’ position in the league table.
This may come as music to the ears of Spurs fans. They finally have a manager who is not sugarcoating the club’s current situation. Igor Tudor remains determined to succeed at N17 and make his mark at the club in the coming months. A positive result against Arsenal this weekend would transform the Lilywhites’ narrative for the season and help them build momentum for the remainder of the campaign.
