Everton have the chance to bring in some new faces when the summer window opens up for business

Everton have made Chelsea striker Liam Delap a ‘top target’ ahead of the summer, according to Football Insider. They are being linked with a move for the attacker at the end of the season. He only made the switch to Stamford Bridge last year from Ipswich Town for a fee of £30million.

The Toffees are back in Premier League action on Monday night. They take on Manchester United at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. David Moyes’ side lost 2-1 against AFC Bournemouth on their own patch last time out and are sat in 8th place in the table after 26 fixtures.

Everton target move for Chelsea striker Liam Delap

Everton have the chance to bolster their squad in the summer. They could see Delap as someone to boost their attacking department. If he joined, he would give them more competition and depth up top and could battle it out with Theirno Barry and Beto for a place in their starting XI.

Delap, 23, has made 24 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea in this campaign, 17 of which have come in the league. He has chipped in with two goals and four assists. His contract in London expires in June 2031 meaning he still has plenty of years left to run down.

The ex-England youth international was on the books at Manchester City from 2019 to 2024 after joining them from Derby County. He was loaned out to Stoke City, Preston North End and Hull City during his Etihad Stadium days. The Winchester-born man was then sold permanently to Ipswich.

What now for Liam Delap amid Everton links?

Chelsea have a decision to make regarding Delap’s future, especially if an offer comes in from Everton later this year. After joining the Blues, his former coach Brian Barry-Murphy said: "Liam's blessed with an extraordinary physical capacity to sprint really quickly. Then he's a naturally-skilled striker, his shots are like rockets. It sounds quite simple, but it makes him a pretty destructive forward and pretty difficult to play against, because of his ability to be unpredictable at all times.

"I saw him against the most established or senior centre-backs and his strength is extraordinary. So they would be nervous about coming into contact with him because of how powerful he is. Even in training, it can be like hitting a rock when you make contact with him. That generally does provide a real difficult situation for defenders when they face him."
