Newcastle United starting XI v Manchester City as Eddie Howe recalls £80m duo - predicted

The Magpies have played seven of their last eight matches away from home, a run that started in Paris and now ends in Manchester.

Eddie Howe’s side drew 1-1 with Paris Saint-Germain before losing three in a row against Liverpool and Brentford in the Premier League, and Man City in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup.

The Brentford defeat came at St James’ Park but since then, United have won three in a row, beating Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, Aston Villa in the FA Cup and Qarabag in the Champions League.

Newcastle head to the Etihad with momentum but their record there is a worry, having never won there in the Premier League.

Having only got back from Azerbaijan in the early hours of Thursday morning, Howe may be forced into changes in order to keep his starting XI as fresh as possible.

A growing injury list means Howe isn’t blessed with a load of options currently, but he does have Joelinton to call upon again after he returned in midweek from a groin issue.

Here’s how Newcastle United are predicted to line-up:

Will need to be at his best with a busy night likely in store.
