Michael Carrick’s men have had an extended wait to return to the pitch after their most recent Premier League fixture ended in a 1-1 draw against West Ham last Tuesday.
United faced a tough test against West Ham and striker Benjamin Sesko came to the rescue for the Red Devils with a dramatic injury-time equaliser at the London Stadium.
Benjamin Sesko’s impact ensured that United secured a point against West Ham and Carrick maintained an unbeaten start to his interim head coach reign this season.

Speaking in his column for Sportskeeda, Arsenal legend Paul Merson felt that he saw shades of Sir Alex Ferguson with Carrick’s key tactical approach against West Ham.
“I like how Manchester United did not give up against West Ham and got that late draw,” he explained.
“Michael Carrick took a chance to try and get back in the game. He gambled like Sir Alex Ferguson would have and they got the draw. I liked that about him.”

“The pressure will be on Manchester United because they are playing after Chelsea and Liverpool this weekend,” he said.
“I don’t think Everton are great at home, so at least that’s an advantage for United. Everton have not won in their last five home games in the league.”
Merson added: “Manchester United will create chances in this game and I fully expect them to score enough to get the win over Everton.”
Merson has backed United to secure all three Premier League points on Monday evening after predicting a 2-1 defeat for Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
