Liverpool are back in Premier League action this weekend as they hunt for another win

Liverpool face an away trip to the City Ground on Sunday afternoon to play Nottingham Forest. Arne Slot’s men beat Brighton and Hove Albion 3-0 last time out in the fourth round of the FA Cup. Curtis Jones, Dominik Szoboszlai and Mohamed Salah got their goals against the Seagulls at Anfield.

The Reds beat Sunderland 1-0 at the Stadium of Light in their latest league outing. Skipper Virgil van Dijk found the net against the Black Cats in the North East. The Merseyside giants are positioned in 6th place behind Arsenal, Manchester City, Aston Villa, Manchester United and Chelsea with 12 fixtures left to play.

Liverpool latest ahead of Nottingham Forest clash

Liverpool will be eyeing another victory against Nottingham Forest. They are only two points behind Chelsea in 5th after 26 matches. The top five will be enough to get Champions League this season.

The Reds won the title last year and subsequently invested heavily into their squad last summer. They delved into the market to snap up the likes of Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak, among others. However, they haven’t been able to reach the same heights as the last campaign and it has taken time for all their new recruits to gel together.

It has turned out to be a transitional period for Slot’s side this term. They remain in Europe though and have reasons to be positive amid their recent results. Their upcoming opponents are sat in 17th and are in a relegation battle.

Liverpool score prediction vs Nottingham Forest shared by Chris Sutton

Chris Sutton has shared his score prediction for Liverpool’s trip to Nottingham Forest, as per BBC Sport: “When Vítor Pereira went in as Wolves manager in December 2024, he did brilliantly to keep them up - but he has essentially taken them down this season, picking up only two points from 10 games before he was sacked.

“Now he has arrived at Forest as their fourth manager of the season. I don't think his predecessor, Sean Dyche, deserved the sack. Based on the results in his 18 games in charge, Forest would be 12th in the table, but we are used to seeing managerial changes at the City Ground now.

“We know Pereira will try to keep things tight, but Forest's biggest issue throughout this campaign has been scoring goals and I am not sure they will be able to get at Liverpool. Arne Slot's side became the first team to win at the Stadium of Light when they edged out Sunderland in their last league game, and I can see a similar outcome here. Sutton's prediction: 0-1.”
