Watch: Newcastle goalkeeper scores unbelievable goal in 3-0 win on Friday night

It’s safe to say that it’s been quite a memorable few days for some of our U-21 stars.

First there was Sean Neave, who made his senior debut for the club as substitute in our resounding 6-1 win over Qarabag in Azerbaijan. The 18-year-old came agonisingly close to grabbing both an assist and a goal late on in Baku.

And Neave was on the scoresheet again for the young Magpies with the 18-year-old showcasing some sensational skill to win a penalty, which he then scored to open the scoring in Friday’s 3-0 win over Fulham’s U-21s.

Unfortunately for Neave, however, it’s not his incredible goal from that game that everyone’s talking about. Step forward, goalkeeper Aidan Harris…

Newcastle stopper Aidan Harris made it 2-0 at Whitley Park with a simply superb strike from just outside his own 18 yard box!

Stepping out his box to block Fulham’s Tom Wingate, Harris struck the ball far enough to catch rival goalkeeper Alexander Borto off his line and into the back of the net. Watch the goal below!

It’s not every day you see a goalkeeper score from his own half…

Toon winger Michael Mills later added a third for Robbie Stockdale’s side for a comfortable 3-0 win at Whitley Park, a much-needed bounce back from last week’s agonising 1-0 loss to Arsenal.

For 19-year-old Harris, we can perhaps expect to see him at St James’ Park on Tuesday in the Champions League matchday squad, having made the trip to the Tofiq Bahramov Stadium this past Wednesday.

Harris’ goal sits right near the top of some excellent efforts we’ve seen scored across the club so far this campaign. Up until now, you would probably have said that Bruno Guimaraes’ ‘Olimpico’ against Burnley was the best goal we’ve witnessed to date.

Of course, earlier in the season Dan Burn scored a sublime, almost-finessed header against Athletic Bilbao in the Champions League, meanwhile Nick Woltemade’s literal roof-raiser of a penalty against Nottingham Forest also deserves a mention.
