‘Formally said goodbye’ – Agency make plans clear to Bournemouth as new suitor arrives

Roma have joined the list of suitors for Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi, who has told the Cherries he is leaving in the summer.

That’s according to Corriere dello Sport. The Italian newspaper reports on the 28-year-old today and the developing Italian battle for his signature.

The newspaper explains that Roma and Senesi have been close to uniting before, with Tiago Pinto keen on him for years. He eventually signed him for Bournemouth, where he has impressed.

Bournemouth goodbye official

Now the duo are set to part ways again. According to Corriere’s information, the two parties have ‘already formally said goodbye’ for next season.

ROOF, the player’s agents, have already let the Cherries know that their client wants a different experience. That’s led various clubs around Europe to start testing the waters.

Roma are the latest to join the fray. The Italian side have made inquiries about the centre-back, but know there is plenty of competition. Juventus are also keen and there has also been talk of Barcelona. For now, it appears to be Roma vs Juventus for the Bournemouth defender.

The fact that he has told Bournemouth he is leaving means various suitors are now going to push ahead for his signature.

Roma vs Juventus

Sport Witness have been covering the developing interest in him for weeks. A report on the 12th of February insisted that Juventus were getting serious. Their management even held a meeting with his agents to push things along.

A report since then has made it clear that Senesi was asking for more than double his current wage packet. He’s leveraging his free agent status to get the best deal possible.

How Roma will respond to that remains to be seen. They’ve been busy spending big for Gian Piero Gasperini in the last few months, and the focus now seems to be on improving their defence.

That’s put Senesi, an old target by all accounts, on their radar. We’re sure to see more about him in Italy in the coming weeks and months as a result.
