Fresh from a 6-1 win at Qarabag on Wednesday night, Newcastle United are on the road again tonight, taking on Manchester City at the Etihad.
Eddie Howe’s Mags are looking to make it FOUR away wins in a row, while Pep Guardiola’s men will be looking to move just two points behind top-of-the-league Arsenal with a victory.
As we edge closer to tonight’s 8pm kick-off, here is the side we’re backing Howe to go with and why…
Predicted XI
_**(4-3-3):** Pope – Trippier, Thiaw, Burn, Hall – Ramsey, Tonali, Joelinton – Elanga, Gordon, Willock._
_**OUT:** Barnes, Woltemade_
_**IN:** Joelinton, Ramsey_
Joe Willock on the left is a slightly rogue selection, but he and Joelinton have linked up well in the past down our left and Harvey Barnes looks like a player in need of a rest to me.
I’m not sure this is the game for Nick Woltemade in midfield, so I think a rested Jacob Ramsey returns and Anthony Elanga continues down the right, getting a start at Man City after scoring in a brilliant cameo few weeks ago.
Sven Botman may be back in the squad, and Howe may be tempted to switch to a back three, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the Dutchman returns to the XI against Qarabag on Tuesday after missing the last few games with a back issue.
