And he praised James Milner, who was a central figure in the 2-0 success.
Milner was superb on his record-setting 654th Premier League appearance and remained on the pitch until the last few minutes.
Goals from Diego Gomez and Danny Welbeck in the first half secured the win.
Albion boss Fabian Hurzeler said: “Especially in the first half, we played really good football.
“We had a lot of possession, we created chances, we scored two nice goals.
“The second half was more a game of defending the lead, of defending a lot of throw-ins and crosses and set pieces.
“But I think, overall, we managed it quite well and deserved this win.”
Milner played a deep-lying midfield role and led the celebrations at the end.
Hurzeler said: “I think he's a great leader on the pitch, a great communicator.
“He understands the game quite well and, on top of that, he is still super fit.
“I don't know how he's doing it, to get this fitness every week.
“Every training session he runs the most, he sprints the most and therefore it's not a surprise for me that he's capable of doing these kind of performances.
“But I think the main thing is being a great leader, being there to manage the key moment and being there to communicate and that's what he did today.”
