Sunderland's unbeaten home record finally came to an end recently, but where do they stand on the home Premier League table?
The Black Cats had managed to avoid defeat in their previous 12 top-flight matches this season, incredibly standing alone as the last home unbeaten team in the division. And even after losing to Liverpool, Sunderland’s record at the Stadium of Light is formidable, registering 26 points and 21 goals in 13 games so far, compared to just 10 points and six goals in the same number of away games. But as impressive as that is, how does Sunderland’s home record compare to the rest of the Premier League?

Only Arsenal, Manchester City, Aston Villa and Manchester United have taken more points at home than Sunderland this season, while only the former two have conceded fewer goals.
Regis Le Bris’ side will feel confident of returning to winning ways and climbing back up the home league table this Sunday, when they host a Fulham side that has taken just 11 points on the road so far. The defeat to Liverpool was Sunderland’s first in the league at home since a 1-0 loss against QPR back in May, just before the Championship play-offs began. The last time the Black Cats had lost a Premier League match at the Stadium of Light was on 13th May, 2017, when they fell 2-0 against Swansea City in their last home game before relegation.
Perhaps the biggest shocks of this table are seeing Tottenham way down in 18th, winning just two of their 13 home games so far, while only Wolves have taken fewer points. Meanwhile, Sunderland’s arch-rivals Newcastle are 10th with seven wins and 23 points from 13 games. That said, Eddie Howe’s men have lost their last two at St. James’ Park, with their last victory coming 4-3 against Leeds in early January.
