Hermansen Helps Hammers Secure Sour Point

**Since stepping back between the sticks, Hermansen has achieved yet another clean sheet in two of his last three appearances.**

Areola had failed to keep a clean sheet for the Hammers in what felt like an age, and ever since Hermansen’s return to goal, Nuno’s side appears to be in control a lot more defensively and looks less worried in defensive situations.

The Dane, who is hoping to shine before the 2026 World Cup Campaign, will certainly be knocking on Denmark’s door and certainly the starting spot of West Ham as he finally begins to prove the fee that we paid for him.

The Hammers broke their all-time record fee for a goalkeeper signing Hermansen and tonight that proved decisive as he made 13 recoveries and 5 saves across the match, some of which were harder than others.

Whilst the saves may be visually appealing, one aspect of Hermansen’s game that could be helpful for the future is how quickly he’s able to release the ball. Once the ball is picked up in his hands, straight away he’s looking to dispatch it elsewhere and often provides the opportunity to allow a counter-attack.

It’s ever so slightly painful that Hermansen’s performance wasn’t matched with a victory from the Hammers, as it was well deserved and unfortunately, Nuno’s side have missed out on yet another opportunity to close in on Nottingham Forest.

A point gained but pain accumulated, yet that doesn’t fault Hermansen in any way, shape or form. It’s great to see the Dane shining under the lights, in this case, the pouring rain. Hopefully, Hermansen can continue on his form in what’ll be a close ending to the season and one that could come down to the final day.
