Arne Slot will be aiming to do something today that he’s never done before as Liverpool boss - beat Nottingham Forest.

The Dutchman will be going for his first win at the fourth time of asking as his side looks to boost their Champions League hopes for next season at the City Ground, and he’ll be doing so against his third Forest manager.

Vitor Pereira takes charge in the league for the first time since taking over from Sean Dyche, having made a winning start in the Europa League on Thursday. Both sides though will be without some big names in today’s clash.

Liverpool is without five players in total, with no sign of the Reds’ injury list easing over the past week. The closest to a return is Jeremie Frimpong, but the 25-year-old will have to wait until at least next weekend’s game at home to West Ham after Slot ruled out the prospect of him playing against Forest.

He remains on the sidelines with Alexander Isak. The striker has been seen in recent videos from the AXA Training Centre, but he’s still a fair way off a comeback, having only kicked a ball for the first time since breaking his leg at Tottenham just over a week ago.

Elsewhere, Wataru Endo is facing a long lay-off after being stretchered off at Sunderland, although Slot is keeping his fingers crossed that he might be able to return before the end of the campaign.

With Conor Bradley definitely not coming back until next season, Liverpool will once again have to find someone to fill in at right-back, with Dominik Szoboszlai, Curtis Jones and Joe Gomez all in the running, the latter after Slot confirmed he is ready to start after returning from his own injury.

Giovanni Leoni is also out for the remainder of the season, meaning the Reds can ill-afford any more injuries in defense, with even this summer’s first signing at the back seemingly suffering from the club’s curse in defense.

As for today’s hosts, Forest are also without five players, including two particularly big misses from last season’s push for Europe.
