The attacking Nottingham Forest team that could get inside Arne Slot's head again vs Liverpool

Nottingham Forest will be looking to take their performance from Thursday’s win over Fenerbahce into the game against Liverpool on Sunday.

Goals from Murillo, Igor Jesus and Morgan Gibbs-White saw Forest win 3-0 in Istanbul, with the home crowd left shellshocked as their former manager got off to a flyer with Forest.

Liverpool have endured a miserable season by last season’s title-winning standards and have a real fight on their hands to secure a place in next season’s Champions League.

Still, they will provide a stern test for Forest at the City Ground and Vitor Pereira will hope to see another strong performance from his team on Trentside.

Nottingham Forest’s attacking XI to beat Liverpool

When Forest won 1-0 at Anfield last season, Arne Slot bemoaned that the Reds lined up differently in an attempt to throw Liverpool off the scent. And it worked!

Today, there will be no such surprises from Pereira and although he must be tempted to go 3-4-3, he will likely stick with the 4-2-3-1 that did so well in Turkey.

Would you be happy with this team against Liverpool?

Who is unlucky to miss out?

Stefan Ortega will once again deputise for Matz Sels between the posts against Liverpool.

The back four should be unchanged, with Ola Aina, Nikola Milenkovic, Murillo and Neco Williams looking like a very settled unit once again.

In the middle of the park, Elliot Anderson and Ibrahim Sangare are both undroppable and will be paired together once again.

Given how good Liverpool can be, the temptation might be to start Nicolas Dominguez in a wide position today, but we’re not sure Pereira will do that.

Instead, we think the same attacking unit from Thursday will play once again, with Omari Hutchinson and Callum Hudson-Odoi on the flanks and Jesus and Gibbs-White playing through the middle.

Pereira will sense a real opportunity to get at Liverpool today and this time might just be capable of getting Slot hot under the collar at Forest again!
