Significant step for Bournemouth player – Huge national call-up on the way

AFC Bournemouth forward Rayan is reportedly close to receiving his first senior call-up to the Brazil national football team, according to Brazilian journalist Rodrigo Silvério.

Speaking on local outlet PodCruzmaltino, Silvério claims the 19-year-old is already on Carlo Ancelotti’s internal shortlist. The decision, he says, was shaped even before the attacker completed his move from Vasco da Gama to the Premier League.

“The scenario was already defined internally even before his transfer to Bournemouth,” Silvério said. “The player had been closely monitored by Carlo Ancelotti’s staff, who were following his development and continuity in professional football.”

That suggests Bournemouth’s signing did not trigger the interest. Instead, the Cherries inherited a player already under serious consideration at international level. We covered that in September last year.

March friendlies in focus

According to the report, Rayan is viewed as a strong candidate to be tested in Brazil’s March friendlies. The Seleção are scheduled to face France national football team on 26 March and Croatia national football team on 31 March, as part of their World Cup preparations.

“Rayan is seen as a strong name to be tested in the March friendlies,” Silvério added. “The intention now is for Ancelotti to closely assess his growth within the national team environment, after the forward left an excellent impression during the observation period.”

Those fixtures would offer a high-level introduction. France and Croatia represent serious opposition, and any minutes would signal genuine trust from the coaching staff.

What this means for Bournemouth

For Bournemouth, this is an encouraging development. International recognition at senior level would boost Rayan’s profile and market value. It would also reinforce the club’s strategy of investing in emerging South American talent.

However, a call-up would also bring new demands. Travel, adaptation and increased scrutiny are part of the package. Still, exposure to Ancelotti’s methods and elite teammates could accelerate the youngster’s growth.

If the call-up is confirmed, Bournemouth will have a Brazil international in their ranks sooner than many expected. For a teenager still adapting to English football, that is a significant step. He will need to make sure to keep calm.
