Aston Villa have the chance to bring in some new faces when the summer transfer window opens up

Chelsea could be ‘open’ to offers for defender Trevoh Chalobah this summer amid interest from Aston Villa, accordinig to a report by Football Insider. Unai Emery’s side are being linked with a move for the centre-back at the end of the season. His contract at Stamford Bridge expires in June 2028 meaning he still has a couple of years left to run down on his deal.

Villa drew 1-1 at home against Leeds United this weekend. Striker Tammy Abraham got their goal against the Whites at Villa Park. Emery’s men remain 3rd in the Premier League table behind Arsenal and Manchester City.

Aston Villa receive boost in pursuit of Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah

Aston Villa could see Chelsea’s Chalobah as someone to boost their defensive department. If he joined, he would give them more competition and depth at the back. In addition, he could battle it out with the likes of Ezri Konsa, Tyrone Mings and Victor Lindelof for a place in their starting XI.

Chalobah, 26, is an England international with one cap to his name. He has been on the books of the Blues for his whole career to date. The Sierre Leone-born man has risen up through their academy and was a regular at various different youth levels as a youngster.

He has made 140 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions to date, 36 of which have come this season, and he has chipped in with eight goals. The London outfit have also loaned him out to Ipswich Town, Huddersfield Town, FC Lorient and Crystal Palace in the past. His long-term future is up in the air right now amid attention from Aston Villa.

Speaking after Aston Villa’s point against Leeds, Emery said: “It’s not the best result, it’s not worst. When we were losing in the minute 89, 1-0, to draw this match was really something fantastic. We must be positive. We must accept this result in the Premier League because every team (is) showing their capacity, how difficult is the Premier League, for us, for other teams.

“How we are third, still being there, how we achieved today one point like how we were, I think should be something (we) must accept like a positive result and keep going forward, because we are going to try to be consistent in 38 matches.”
