Leeds United turned in one of their most wholehearted displays of the season, fighting their way to a 1-1 draw at Aston Villa to move six points clear of the drop zone.
Facing a Villa side chasing Champions League football, the Whites combined resilience with composure. They matched the home side’s tempo, kept their shape when it counted and never allowed the occasion to overwhelm them. The draw felt meaningful, not just for the breathing space it creates, but for the confidence it reflects within the group.

Anton Stach’s brilliant free-kick midway through the first half put Leeds ahead at Villa Park, and for much of the afternoon, it seemed that moment of quality might be enough to secure a statement away victory. But Tammy Abraham’s late leveller meant both sides had to settle for a point.
Leeds have another tough game lined up next weekend when they take on Manchester City at Elland Road, and this will be a huge game at both ends of the league table.
Pep Guardiola mentions Leeds as he discusses the title race
Manchester City have momentum behind them in the title race. They are now just two points behind league leaders Arsenal after a 2-1 win over Newcastle United on Saturday.
Guardiola still doesn’t want to talk about the title race in detail and insists that they still have some tough games lined up in the coming weeks.
He stressed that he only wants to talk about his side’s next opponents, Leeds, and focus on the Elland Road trip, before discussing the possibility of winning the Premier League this season.
Guardiola told reporters after the game on Saturday night: “Newcastle is always one of the toughest games in the Premier League, and we know every game is tough in this league.
“We have tough games coming up. We focus on the next game, and we don’t talk of a title race.
“Everyone is asking me the same question, but we now focus on the next game. The next game is Leeds.
“So you ask me when I will speak about the title race. I say Leeds. We speak after Leeds.”
Man City sparked Leeds’ revival earlier in the season
Daniel Farke seemed to be on the brink of getting sacked as his Leeds side went into the break 2-0 down to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium towards the end of November.
The Leeds boss shifted to a 5-3-2 formation, and the team have not looked back since then. A late goal from Phil Foden meant Leeds lost 3-2 at the Etihad, but the team had something to build back from.
