Kieran Trippier sweating on Newcastle United future as Eddie Howe yet to make decision on £8m…

Kieran Trippier is approaching the final months of his Newcastle United contract - with Eddie Howe revealing recently that there has been no update on contract talks.

It will be an emotional moment for everyone on Tyneside when the 35-year-old calls time at St James’ Park. Just as it was for Jamaal Lascelles, who left earlier this month following 12 years of service in black-and-white stripes.

At present, three first-team stars - including Trippier - are set to leave the club this summer. While the right-back fights for a contract extension, the other two may have already played their final game for Newcastle due to injuries.

On Trippier, Eddie Howe said last week: “There's been no development on his contract but I'd never rule anything out with Kieran. There'll be discussions for another day with Kieran and ourselves, very open and we'll have dialogue as the season progresses. He's been an unbelievable player, professional for this football club.

“You should never be underestimated what he's done and the difference he's made since signing from Atletico (Madrid). For me, it was a transformative signing and I love seeing him play for the team and giving what he gave us against Tottenham. If he can manage to keep that level between now and the end of the season then he'll be a massive help to us.”

Nothing is certain yet - this is purely speculation - but the expiring list is an issue Toon chiefs must address ahead of the summer transfer window. NewcastleWorld has profiled the three first-team players whose current deals are up in the coming months. How many would you keep at St James’ Park for another season?
