**Despite a frustrating 0–0 draw against AFC Bournemouth last night, West Ham have benefited from at least one of Sunday’s results.**
The Hammers left London Stadium disappointed on Saturday night after picking up just a point against Andoni Iraola’s in-form side. Despite Bournemouth’s recent quality, the tie felt like one the Irons had to win, considering their upcoming fixtures include Liverpool, Manchester City and Aston Villa.
A draw was probably a fair result after 90 minutes, but West Ham’s lack of cutting edge in the final third could be something they come to regret at the end of the season, as they remain in the relegation zone.
Luckily for Nuno Espírito Santo’s side, their relegation rivals Nottingham Forest fell to defeat against Liverpool at the City Ground. The result means the gap between the Hammers and Forest remains at two points.
Whether Saturday night’s encounter resulted in a “good point” or a “poor point” was dependent on Sunday’s results. After the weekend’s fixtures, West Ham find themselves one step closer to safety.
However, Nuno’s side travel to Anfield next weekend — a ground where they have won only once in over sixty years. West Ham lost 2–0 in the reverse fixture when Alexander Isak opened his Premier League account for the Reds.
Forest travel to Brighton & Hove Albion, who had not won a league game since January 3 prior to their victory against Brentford on Saturday. Hammers fans will be hoping that the Seagulls can thwart Vítor Pereira’s side, as they have done to West Ham on so many occasions.
Ultimately, though, Nuno’s team must pick up points themselves and cannot rely on other sides to bail them out of trouble. That said, to get any sort of result away at Liverpool — even against this Liverpool side — is a huge ask. However, if the Hammers were somehow to nick even a point at Anfield, it would place real pressure on Forest to perform at the Amex Stadium.
